Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I sign up for an agility class with Action Paws? A. You can call us or email us, see the contact page for informationQ. Does my dog need to be obedience trained to start agility classes: A. While obedience training can help, it is not a prerequisite to start agility classes at Action Paws.Q. Do I bring my dog to the first class? A. Yes! We spend the first half hour doing a class orientation/information time and during that time it gives the dogs an opportunity to get use to the facility and the other dogs in the group. For the second half of class we are going to be working with the dogs.Q. Does Action Paws require vaccinations? A. Vaccinations are not required at Action Paws. I do recommend them especially if you have a very active dog that goes to dog parks, pet stores, or dog events.Q. Are some breeds better at agility than others? A. The herding breeds tend to have a natural instinct for agility, however any breed or any size of dog does well at agility.Q. Is agility training only for those that want to compete? A. NO! Most students start agility classes just to have fun with their dog! Some get bitten by the bug and go on to compete.Q. What age can I start my dog in agility? A. We start dogs at all ages but if the dog is very young or very old, we will gauge the class instruction to the age of the dog. Q. My dog is very nervous or scared of things, is agility suitable for her? A. YES! Agility can be a great way to help dogs with nervous issues. It introduces them to a new environment, new dogs, new people, different noises and objects. Agility is a great confidence booster!! I highly recommend agility for dogs that have issues with being nervous or afraid in their every day life. I love to work with these dogs and enjoy watching the transformation from nervous or scared to a confident dog. See Magnums story of his transformation
